TEACHING AT RED BIRD PRESS

Local teaching artists and print professionals in the Houston area are invited to submit proposals for workshops and classes at Red Bird Press!

To sustain the practice of printmaking and other paper crafts, Red Bird Press offers a fully-equipped facility to host educational programs for artists and community members. Experienced printmakers, book artists, and other print-based media artists are encouraged to submit proposals outlining their plan and goals for the intended workshop or class.

TEACH WITH US

  • Teaching artists must have sufficient experience and be able to host their course independently. This includes class preparation and timely attendance. Necessary assistance should be communicated with Red Bird in advance to ensure help will be available.

Red Bird can host up to 12 participants in a workshop, depending on the course.

Red Bird offers assorted tools and materials for classes and workshops to use. Specific materials not available at Red Bird Press must be obtained by the instructor. This does not include consumables, such as paper and ink. (examples: Cricut machine, sandpaper, Gelli plates, specific glue or tape, etc.)

1-day Workshops last about 4 hours long. Free community workshops can last all day. Classes with recurring meetings can typically meet once or twice a week, with 3-4 hour sessions.
