In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of silkscreen printmaking in Red Bird Press’s studio. Using a physical, hand-made approach to design, each participant will get to create and print a single-color serigraph! This workshop is ideal for complete beginners who have little or no experience screen printing, and are interested in learning about the process.

Topics covered include:

materials and supplies needed for silkscreen, step-by-step tutorials on screen + image development, how to create a design, best practices for printing, editioning, and more!

Join us for Ink & Drink at Red Bird!

Join us for an evening of wine and printmaking at Red Bird Press! Start the night with complimentary wine and enjoy a fun, social atmosphere as you hang with fellow creatives. Then, roll up your sleeves and dive into hands-on letterpress - using our antique wood type and flatbed proof presses to create your own unique prints!

Think about what phrase/phrases you may want to print! We recommend keeping it short and sweet

No experience? No problem! Most of our guests are first-timers. We provide aprons, but recommend wearing older clothes and closed-toe shoes—just in case the wine or ink flows freely.

Cyanotypes

Join us for an exciting, interactive workshop where you'll learn to create cyanotype prints using sunlight and simple materials.

Taught by Caroline Roberts

Learn to make photographic prints without a camera, using the water-based cyanotype process and sunshine! We will make prints using objects and transparencies to create images called “photograms”. All cyanotype chemicals and paper will be provided. Caroline will demonstrate coating the paper as well as bringing ready-coated paper so that you can get started right away!
